We’re talking about Irish Coffee with fresh whipped cream, stuffed and roast goose with apple red cabbage and homemade dumplings, or a perfect romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner.  We always have  something out of the ordinary,  or sometimes you‘re just the reason.

When the food is good,.. life is good. But when people eat, well, surely they must also drink!

And of course, if you take a holiday in the tropics, a well-made cocktail, with a subtle garnish of local mountain orchid (and a little parasol) is what you want to complete your island paradise experience.

Friddi - There would be no Peppercorn without him. Period.
He's the man, and the soul and engine of this fabulous restaurant and cooks his way into peoples hearts and minds.
Hanni comes into play as the heart of the restaurant and together they move like a clockwork...

That will be our new dining room. The new Restaurant is still a building site, but we expect everything to be ready at the beginning of December.



The old place is closed already. It will take us 4-6 weeks to get ready for reopening. We will let you know the exact date. 

Expected is the 3th of December.

In the future you can find us only 10 min motorbike - distance away from the old place which won’t be the Peppercorn anymore. Feel welcome to have a look around at the new place before the reopening. We will be there already .… Friddi will mix some concrete instead of preparing soups and Hanni will take care of the garden.       

But first let’s go back to the beginning of the story. It all started with a beautiful piece of land, the perfect place for us to set up our own restaurant and home. We have already been lucky with that. But if you believe in the words of Khun Sun Ni, the lady who blessed the place for us, we will be lucky there for a long time and we definitely believe in that. Thank you for helping us to understand the spirit of the land. We will treat it with respect and love.


The first stone, here in Thailand the first banana tree with an offspring of a coconut seed was set.

That was on the second of March 2012. 




Soon our guests will sit here and enjoy the view……But before that…..

….. there is still a long way to go.

On the10th of April  the idea slowly became reality. There were so many new things to think about: how many stairs  would we like to climb in the future, where  would we get water from and if we got water, would  the concrete mix be all right? 

Sunday 6h of May: We have got a bar, and since we have got a bar we can start the first housewarming party…..we have also got some traditions from Germany. A bar has to be dedicated in style! Otherwise a lot of beer will be spilled in the future and back home that means a lot of bad luck.

The Peppercorn standard will rise with the reopening in December again….. at that moment cool ice buckets.

9th of May. Back to here and now. Friddi’s new kitchen…..Finally enough space for cooking!



After the bar warming party there was a roof warming party. The handrail was still missing, less beer was recommended….




28th of May they started with the roof…..until the15 of June.


Slowly means in Thai Cha cha and it is not only a word it's a live style. It helps to prevent heart attacks and it is learnable. It was one of the first words people were teaching us when we decide to stay here.

But that view is anyway a good reason to chill from time to time......


Finally the roof was ready at the 22th of June. But there was still a bit to go until the real final.

5th of August practically it should be ready but who cares we had got some time left and Electricity!!!!


Our new Bar..... and the Dining Room, some tables would be nice.

3th of September finally the building is ready and the fun part is starting. It was a long way and we learned a lot about building sides and our self. Too bad that we never will build another one! Now we are looking forward to establish the Peppercorn at its new home. Thanks to all the people how helped us to made it real.

Starting 3th of December 2012, you can enjoy your Meals overlooking Haad Salad in a new atmosphere appreciating our delicious Menu as always.
